FUSPro Launches Nationwide Mobilisation for Formation of 50 Member-Centered SACCOs Across 141 Districts
The Federation of Uganda Salons and Beauty Professionals (FUSPro) has embarked on a nationwide mobilisation campaign targeting all beauty practitioners in 141 districts across the country. The exercise aims to organize members into 50-member-centered SACCOs at parish level, paving the way for financial empowerment and structured development within the beauty industry.
The initiative is being led by Mr. Kamanyire Celestine , the Chairperson, Mr. Jjuuko Abubakali, the Head of Mobilisation and Publicity, in close coordination with regional and divisional coordinators countrywide. This mass mobilisation effort is part of FUSPro’s strategic plan to formalize and strengthen the informal beauty sector, ensuring practitioners benefit from government financing through SACCO funds and the GROW Project.
Under this program, members will first undergo training and certification to qualify for the official Workers’ Permit (Workers’ Pass) a key document recognizing their professional skills and enabling access to national programs and financial services. Once trained, practitioners will be grouped into SACCOs to help them save, invest, and access affordable loans for business growth and modernization.
Speaking about the campaign, Mr. Kamanyire Celestine emphasized that the mobilisation drive reflects FUSPro’s mission to empower beauty professionals, promote financial inclusion, and enhance livelihoods through organized structures. He noted that this approach will ensure that every beautician, salon operator, and barber across Uganda becomes part of a vibrant, recognized, and financially supported professional community.
The Federation continues to work hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development (MGLSD), Operation Wealth Creation (OWC), KCCA, and other development partners to uplift the standards of the beauty and wellness industry in Uganda.
Through this mobilisation, FUSPro reaffirms its commitment to transforming the beauty sector into a unified, professional, and economically empowered community contributing meaningfully to Uganda’s development agenda.
